Working with a Photographer

Trusting your online narrative to a professional website designer and photographer shows your clients how much you believe in your work/product/service - they will see the difference!

PianistPavelPetrov.com is done! I'm so proud of this new website I created for such a brilliant musician. Pavel wanted a modern, clean, and easy to use website that looks great on all devices - my specialty!

We began by assessing all his content in Google Drive. We edited all text to define Pavel's online narrative: that of a performer and educator trained in the rich traditions of the great Russian pianists of the 20th century. With such an illustrious musical heritage, Pavel needed a website to match. We quickly realized that he lacked professional headshots, and that any new photos would have to avoid the typical cliche of "pianist sitting at a piano" 😉

We turned to LA-based photographer, composer, and conductor Brandon J. Rolle. After location scouting the Arts District and downtown Los Angeles, Brandon and I chose the stunning backdrop of the Arthur J. Will memorial fountain in Grand Park. The subtle and muted grey color background of Pavel's site is lifted directly from the jets of water in Brandon's images. The accent earth tone is lifted from a dark brown mosaic accent wall along the backside of the fountain. I also styled Pavel's wardrobe for the photo shoot to achieve an understated business casual look that would feel "put-together" but also approachable and relaxed.

I think its important to acknowledge how much trust Pavel placed in me for this project - everything about the design, layout, and direction was left to me. When I suggested investing in new headshots, he was flexible and understood the vision I had for the completed site, especially how new headshots would help.
